Mac software bundles are appearing more and more frequently these days, particularly during the holiday season, but this spring both MacHeist and MacUpdate offered packages of applications. Uad vst plugins crack mac. Although both of these went relatively smoothly, there has been continued criticism of the economics of selling bundles, particularly from software developers who feel that the bundles aren't good for them. For Kim, one of the big draws was that the bundle included a big-name application like Parallels, which is a more recognizable name than a lot of independent software that's distributed via the Internet. Print ads were also a nice perk of bundle participation, since many small developers don't want to shell out money for expensive magazine ads. Kim lists the benefits of the bundles as being volume sales, more exposure, and more users, as well as the ability to piggyback off of the sales of other applications. He also mentions, however, that developers have to cut prices and provide a lot of support for bundle promotions, which may end up making them feel like they're suddenly spread too thin for not much money per sale.

Revenue for this particular bundle was paid out as a percentage of each bundle sold, rather than a flat fee. Kim says his revenue from the bundle was a few times his normal monthly revenue, since the volume more than made up for the low wholesale price. Since April, sales haven't risen dramatically from exposure by being in the bundle, but they haven't dropped either. In the end, Kim feels that participating in the promotion was worth it, since a nice chunk of revenue rolled in and sales haven't fallen. Although he doesn't feel ripped off, Kim will be holding out for a higher percentage in the future. Developers who are debating doing a bundle should definitely take a look at his reflections, since there's a lot of good information about what to expect by participating in such a promotion.
